Design Considerations for Residents with Impeded Cognitive Functioning
Conversations with People with Schizophrenia

This paper is the outcome of an overarching research project undertaken over the last decade. The research has investigated the relationship between the built environment and people who have impediments to their cognitive functioning. The architectural profession is demonstrating a growing interest in using research that can inform this field of design practice. The current sub-project has focused on listening to people with schizophrenia talking about their homes to better understand the impact of accommodation design on residents’ well-being.
