The Alastair Swayn Foundation together with The Swayn Gallery of Australian Design is proud to announce the appointment of Dr Erin Hinton as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2025. Dr Hinton succeeds Mr Ashley Blondel, who has been an integral part of the Foundation’s growth and success over the past 3 years.
An architect and academic, renowned for her expertise across practice, teaching and collaborative research projects, Erin brings over 20 years of experience in the design and built environment industries. With a strong reputation of leadership and innovation in design and architecture-focused initiatives, together with her background in research, education and partnership development, Erin will be instrumental in driving the Foundation’s mission to support and inspire the Australian architecture and design communities through scholarships, grants, and educational programs.
“We are delighted to welcome Erin as the new CEO of the Alastair Swayn Foundation,” said Graham Humphries, Chair of the Board. “Her expertise, leadership and vision will be critical in building on and advancing the vision which Alastair Swayn had when establishing the Foundation and setting out its mission.”
Prior to her appointment as CEO of the Foundation, Erin served as Associate Dean Education and Partnerships, and Head of Architecture at the University of Canberra. She is current Chair of the ACT Architects Board, and a Director of the Architecture Accreditation Council of Australia Board.

The Alastair Swayn Foundation is dedicated to continuing the legacy of its namesake, Alastair Swayn, by supporting the next generation of designers through a range of dynamic programs and initiatives. The Foundation and the Swayn look forward to the exciting future ahead under Dr Hinton’s leadership, as it continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact.
