Retain, Repair, Reinvest is a strategy for evaluating the refurbishment potential of existing public housing. Ensuring housing as a basic human right.
The state government has recently announced a tender for the development of Barak Beacon Estate despite no feasibility study being conducted into the refurbishment of the existing buildings. OFFICE working with the local residents have conducted their Retain, Repair, Reinvest strategy on the Estate as an alternative to the current demolition and rebuild proposal.
Having already completed a study at the Ascot Vale Estate this work has given the local residents proof of an alternative approach and a tool to advocate to the state government.
